Lion possesses two strong disables in 裂地尖刺 and 妖术 and heavy magic burst with 死亡之指. When getting his 闪烁匕首 Lion can punish Ember Spirit's overextention immediately, or initiate fight on him with disables.

沉默术士

全领域静默 and 遗言 can prevent Ember Spirit from casting 激活残焰 to escape. 智慧之刃 also provide high pure damage not negated by 烈火罩. 奥术诅咒 is also potent harassing tool in the laning stage as it's cooldown is faster than 烈火罩's.

风暴之灵

Storm Spirit is not only potent 紫怨 carrier, additionally, his 电子涡流 provides additional disable and 超负荷 provides great slow and paired with 残影 can cut through 烈火罩 fast. 球状闪电 not only provides great initiation upon Ember Spirit from any position anytime, but also helps dodging 无影拳 and getting out when rooted down with 炎阳索.

虚空假面

Faceless Void is one of the best heroes against Ember Spirit, providig a lot of ways of dealing with him. Ember Spirit becomes a lot weaker if affected by 时间膨胀, as he can no longer spam 无影拳. 时间结界 is also reliable lock down for Ember Spirit, even though it can be evaded sometimes by 激活残焰. additionally, Void can easily negate 无影拳 damage with 时间漫游. And finally, Void is a great 净魂之刃 carrier, not only 破法 is a physical damage that's not negated by 烈火罩, but it also burns Ember Spirit's mana, that won't allow him to escape even if surviving 时间结界.

全能骑士

The pure damage provided by 洗礼 is a great addition for killing Ember Spirit, as well as a good way of saving teammates. 驱逐 fully negate all magic damage of 烈火罩 and 炎阳索, and 守护天使 will temporary save all team from 无影拳 physical damage, and Ember Spirit is not a hero that will get 净魂之刃 to counter these skills.

力丸

Riki can not only roam to pressure Ember Spirit early, but can stay potent any stage of the game because of 烟幕, preventing Ember Spirit from using 激活残焰.

司夜刺客

Using 复仇 Nyx Assassin can move closely to Ember Spirit when he's farming with his 烈火罩 and use 尖刺外壳 with 穿刺 to provide reliable and long disable. 法力燃烧 is also good, as Ember Spirit relies on his limited manapool for early-/midgame.

• Disable and pure damage from 裂魂人's 幽冥一击 and 暗影冲刺 can be potent skills for locking Ember Spirit down. But Ember Spirit can play around them, as his 炎阳索 can stop 暗影冲刺, and 激活残焰 will keep him safe. Additionally, 暗影冲刺 is not fast enough and most of the time Ember Spirit will leave lane faster than Spirit Breaker gets there. Though, Spirit Breaker can still be extremely effective ganker before Ember Spirit will get his 残焰, and can stay potent if getting early 影刃.
• General opinion that 末日使者 can counter Ember Spirit with his 末日 is a misconception, as 末日 is too slow to cast and even 闪烁匕首 initiation won't help getting 末日 applied. Doom is still extremely effective early ganker, as his 焦土 and 阎刃 damage can quickly overwhelm 烈火罩 magic resistance, leaving Ember Spirit helpless. Additional skills that Doom can get from Neutral creeps can also help bullying Ember Spirit early. 影刃 on Doom can also help, providing the only way to apply 末日 on Ember Spirit.
• 祈求者 can be good against Ember Spirit, as his 强袭飓风 purges 烈火罩, which is the big part of Ember Spirit's early game damage and survivability. Still, Invoker is too weak to provide his team with reliable ways of killing Ember Spirit, as he has no way of stopping 激活残焰. Though, early 紫怨 paired with 闪烁匕首 or 幽灵漫步 can help him dealing with Ember Spirit.
• 痛苦女王 can be legit for dealing with Ember Spirit, getting 紫怨, additionally, her 超声冲击波 provides pure damage that helps bursting Ember Spirit down, and 暗影突袭 helps slowing him. Though Queen of Pain can be punished by Ember Spirit, as his 炎阳索 prevents her from getting 闪烁 off.
• Any hero with disables.

物品

• 紫怨 and 血棘 can be devastating for Ember Spirit, as silence prevents him from getting 激活残焰 off. Ember Spirit is quite fragile so additional damage from these items will be very helpful. Also it will probably force Ember Spirit to get 幻影斧 or 黑皇杖 which will limit his late game damage potential.
• 深渊之刃 and 邪恶镰刀 are both strong disables. Ember Spirit is probably doomed if he will make any mistakes against this items.
• 强袭胸甲 and 赤红甲 - greatly decrease Ember Spirit's damage output from regular attacks and 无影拳.
• 蝴蝶, 天堂之戟 and 炎阳纹章 will allow enemy heroes become more tanky against Ember Spirit because of miss chance.
• 撒旦之邪力, 恐鳌之心 and 斯嘉蒂之眼 are all tank items that will allow enemies survive Ember Spirit's late game AOE damage from 无影拳. Additionally, 恐鳌之心 will allow repeatedly breach Ember Spirit's highground, without committing any resources.

米波

Meepo is quite fragile in the early game and can be easily taken down by overwhelming 烈火罩 and 炎阳索 damage. Later on Meepo is very vulnerable to 无影拳 damage due to 狂战斧 cleave on multiple Meepos. His skill set is also not good enough against Ember Spirit, as he has no natural way of stoping 激活残焰.

混沌骑士

Ember Spirit is naturally very evasive and can dodge close encounters with melee heroes like Chaos Knight. Ember Spirit can't be caught with slow 混乱之箭 and his 无影拳 can bring 混沌之军 illusions down fast.

恐怖利刃

Ember Spirit can deal devastating damage to illusion heroes like Terrorblade with 无影拳. Terrorblade has no way of preventing Ember Spirit from getting 激活残焰 off and additionally Ember Spirit's ability to fight from long range as well as his wide skill set won't give a chance for Terrorblade to get 魂断 off.

水晶室女

Crystal Maiden is extremely fragile and she's merely a food for him. She has no real disables than can lock Ember Spirit down, all of her skill damage can be negated with 烈火罩 and 极寒领域 can be easily interrupted with 炎阳索. 马格纳斯

Magnus is a great addition for a team with Ember Spirit. His 授予力量 is extremely effective, as it greatly increase Ember Spirit's farming speed, granting him buff somewhat similar to 狂战斧. 授予力量 stays potent during all game, as it increases damage proportionally and it's cleave stack with 狂战斧. Additionally, 两极反转 paired with 无影拳 is extremely effective late game combo.

戴泽

Dazzle is a great laning support and he can not only protect Ember Spirit, but also provides killing potential with his 剧毒之触. Dazzle's abilities to make game changing plays with his 薄葬, saving Ember Spirit makes him strong pair for the whole game. 编织 also greatly amplifies 无影拳 damage by armor removal.
