Nian, the Year Beast is an event creep that was created for the New Bloom 2015 event. It has two color variations, one for the Radiant, and one for the Dire.
Mechanics[]
- The Year Beast behaves like, and uses the same AI as bots.
- In terms of mechanics, the Year Beast is counted as a creep-hero.
- The Year Beast gets stronger, gaining the following stats with each level:
- 350 Health
- 35 Attack damage
- 1 Armor
- 5% Magic resistance
- 5 Movement speed
- 50 Gold bounty
- 50 Experience bounty
Command Abilities[]
Players can command the Year Beast to perform these abilities by spending Ability Points. Cooldowns are triggered whenever any team member activates an ability. Active abilities have values that are automatically updated at the 10 and 20 minutes mark, and can be used even when the Year Beast is dead.

Upgradable Abilities[]
- The Year Beast can be upgraded at the 10 and 20 minutes mark with Ability Points.
- There are three upgrade paths available.
- Each player selects their own upgrade path for a total of five upgrades.
- Multiple instances of the same upgrade path come with independent proc chances and cooldowns.
- Players cannot control upgraded abilities, the Year Beast will use them automatically.

- Stacking bonuses: Multiple instances of Combat Path have independent chances to proc Bash, and independent cooldowns for Berserker's Call, Spiked Carapace, and Greater Hex.

If a hero dies in an 1100 radius of the Beast, it will be resurrected after 3 seconds. This effect can only happen once every 20 seconds.
Replaced Abilities[]
- Functions the same way as Aegis of the Immortal.
- The reincarnation sounds (first one being Radiant's and second one being Dire's) also play on the initial spawn of the beasts.

- Tower Flak Cannon shots now apply Eye of Skadi slow.

- Added on-hover tooltips for the active abilities in the Year Beast panel.
- Added two new active abilities: Tower Flak Cannon, and Glyph of Fortification
- Tower Flak Cannon - 250 Ability Points - For 10 seconds, friendly towers will attack all enemy units within 1000 range each time they attack; 60 second cooldown.
- Glyph of Fortification - 250 Ability Points - Your buildings become invulnerable for the next 5 seconds; 360 second cooldown.
- Reduced Global Chakra cooldown from 120 seconds to 90 seconds.
- Reduced Hand of God cooldown from 240 seconds to 160 seconds.
- Replaced Beast Aegis with Global Chakra.
- Reduced Thundergod's Wrath, Global Silence and Hand of God cost to 750.
