Gameplay[]

Playstyle
Void Spirit is a tricky assassin whose abilities provide both offense and defense. His Resonant Pulse shields him from harm, while sending out a wave of damage upon cast. The Aether Remnants he sends out stand watch and pulls in enemies who get too close. Like his brothers, Void Spirit is a highly mobile hero. He can Dissimilate into portals, damaging enemies as he reappears. His ultimate can be used frequently, allowing him to Astral Step through enemies or out of danger. Being a Universal hero with moderate stat gain, Void Spirit is relatively fragile and must combine his abilities cleverly to survive.
Pros Cons
  • Highly mobile.
  • Creates traps.
  • Burst AoE damage.
  • Very sturdy melee heroes due to his shield.
  • Very strong mid game.
  • Good base damage scaling.
  • Somewhat fragile.
  • Very reliant on magical damage.
  • Very susceptible to silences and stuns.
  • Only his ultimate pierces spell immunity.

Tips & Tactics[]

General[]

  • Although you are very mobile, keep in mind that you are still fragile, so always have a backup plan to escape.
  • Void Spirit is best played at mid that can later help him quickly get levels and allow for ganks on either side lanes, creating an early-to-mid game presence whilst allowing him to potentially snowball out of control.
  • Void Spirit is somewhat slow at clearing waves and neutral camps. Therefore, he is better played as an aggressive killer to search for possible kills.
  • One of Void Spirit's most valuable assets is providing cheap and rapid initiations for his teammates. If enemy heroes rely on BKB or Aeon Disk for survivability, Inai can bait and disengage safely, and re-engage when those items' durations completes. For this reason, items that reduce the cool down and cast range of his skills (like Octarine Core) are extremely valuable.
  • In terms of talents:
    • Level 10 talents: If you need more firepower, +50 Aether Remnant Damage might be the way to go. However, if you find yourself spamming spells, it might help to get the +1.75 Mana Regen talent.
    • Level 15 talents: If the enemy team mostly has melee heroes, the +100 Resonant Pulse Damage is good against them, as it forces them to back away to avoid getting hit. However, if you're dealing with heroes that tend to build invisibility items (like Sniper or Slark) or have abilities that make them invisible (like Riki or Bounty Hunter), the Remnant provides 600 True Sight talent might be more beneficial to prevent them from easily escaping.
    • Level 20 talents: If you find yourself using Astral Step a lot, the -7 Astral Step Charge Restore Time talent will certainly help you. If you're using your other spells more often though, the 15% Spell Amplification is a good option to further boost their damage.
    • Level 25 talents: If you're with allies that have disables like Reverse Polarity or Berserker's Call, it can set the enemy team up for an additional 1,75 second stun from Dissimilate. However, if there aren't such allies on your team or if you're focusing on dealing damage, the Astral Step 160% Crit talent will definitely be the way to go.

Abilities[]

Aether Remnant[]

  • Set Aether Remnants to pull enemies into towers if they get too close, which discourages risky plays and dives.
  • Use Aether Remnants on high ground and choke points to catch enemies unawares.
  • Use Aether Remnants ahead of a fleeing target to pull them back towards Void Spirit.
  • Use Aether Remnants to prevent mobile heroes from escaping or teleporting away.
  • Tips needed.

Dissimilate[]

  • Use Dissimilate to dodge spells. It has a very long phase duration so it is very easy to dodge most spells.
  • Don´t overuse Dissimilate in the lane for harassing. It´s a very mana expensive spell. only use it if you are sure you can get the kill or if you have to disengage.
  • Use Dissimilate to get from low ground to high ground when being chased
  • Tips needed.

Resonant Pulse[]

  • Use Resonant Pulse right after Dissimilate or Astral Step to deal burst damage.
  • If your lane has enemy melee heroes, you can punish them with Resonant Pulse if they choose to go for a last hit.
  • Resonant Pulse is also a good way of securing ranged creeps and farming the jungle.
  • Tips needed.

Astral Step[]

  • Astral Step's low cooldown means it can be used to escape, especially by stepping through terrain like cliffs.
  • Use Astral Step´s early level 6 power spike to apply pressure in lane and get kills.
  • Don´t use both charges back to back when going for a kill, as this will waste the slow duration. Attack your target in between charges for maximum slow and damage output.

Items[]

Starting items:

  • Tango keeps Void Spirit alive in lane.
  • Enchanted Mango helps him spam his abilities on enemy heroes in laning phase.
  • Circlet grants bonuses to all attributes, giving Void Spirit a cost-efficient damage boost.
  • Iron Branch is very inexpensive and pads out Void Spirit's attributes and attack damage, and can be planted for more Tango regeneration.

Early game:

  • Phase Boots help Void Spirit chase enemies down and make him even more resilient against attacks.
  • Power Treads are an alternative that grant additional health or mana as necessary and improve Void Spirit's attack speed for better physical damage.
  • Bottle is useful for sustaining Void Spirit in the mid lane and storing runes.
  • Bracer grants Void Spirit some extra attack damage through both raw bonuses and attributes while helping sustain him in lane.

Mid game:

  • Echo Sabre gives useful bonuses to health and attack damage and helps him lock down enemies with Echo Strike. The mana regeneration supplements his spellcasting.
  • Aghanim's Scepter makes Void Spirit much more threatening and resilient in teamfights with its improvements to Resonant Pulse, and gives a respectable damage bonus to Universal heroes.
  • Manta Style grants a decent amount of attributes and movement speed to make Void Spirit more adept at chasing and dealing damage. Mirror Image is also a versatile ability that allows him to better push and fight while letting him shrug off troublesome debuffs.

Late game:

  • Harpoon builds from Echo Saber and boosts all attributes to improve Void Spirit's damage even further, and Draw Forth is an excellent tool for setting up Aether Remnant and keeping on top of enemies.
  • Eye of Skadi grants a substantial bonus to all of Void Spirit's stats and attack damage, and he can easily spread Cold Attack to multiple enemies with Astral Step.

Situational items:

  • Black King Bar can be used to protect against enemy disables if the silence from Aghanim's Scepter-upgraded Resonant Pulse is not enough; it can be used against enemy item-based disables that silence cannot stop.
  • Boots of Travel provides Void Spirit relatively high movement speed and global presence across the map.
  • Orchid Malevolence grants you a silence and damage amplification to use with your abilities on a single target, also granting large amounts of mana regen to spam your abilities. This can be easily upgraded later into a Bloodthorn if you have the gold.
  • Desolator improves the damage of Astral Step, which can also spread the armor debuff to multiple enemies.
  • Scythe of Vyse grants Intelligence and mana regeneration to let Void Spirit use more abilities. The active Hex disables a dangerous target and sets up Dissimilate.
  • Kaya and Sange is a relatively inexpensive item that grants a wide variety of useful bonuses to damage, mana regeneration, and survivability.
  • Linken's Sphere saves Void Spirit from immediate, single targeted disables that can shut him down before he can use his abilities or Black King Bar, or pierce through debuff immunity. It also gives useful bonuses to attributes and regeneration.
  • Abyssal Blade gives a guaranteed stun which could be followed up with a Dissimilate or Aether Remnant for escape or damage. Astral Step further works with this item by potentially proccing the passive bash.
  • Refresher Orb doubles Void Spirit's damage output, while further sharpening his mobility. Most useful in the late game.
  • Mage Slayer protects against magic damage. Astral Step can debuff multiple enemies to debilitate nuke-heavy teams, and the mana regeneration is useful to sustain Void Spirit's spellcasting.
