In the All-Star match of 2017, two teams, Team Radiant and Team Dire, faced each other in a best of one, playing a Captain's Mode. The teams' players were decided by Compendium owners, who were able to vote for 5 players for each team.
Similar to the previous years, there was no real secrecy between the teams, although it was more serious than the previous All Star matches, due to this one having a prize pool.
