The International 2013 was an event held in Seattle, Washington, United States. It was the third iteration of The International, a yearly Dota 2 tournament hosted by Valve Corporation. The champions of The International 2013 were Alliance. Alliance defeated Natus Vincere in a best of five with a score of three to two, securing themselves the Aegis of Champions and ~1.5 million dollars.
For the Wild Card Match, the runners-up of the West and East Qualifiers (Quantic Gaming and Rattlesnake, respectively) played a BO5 match offline in Seattle.
In the All-Star match of 2013, two teams, labled All Star Team A and All Star Team B, faced each other in a best of one, playing Captain's Mode. The teams' players were decided by Compendium owners, who were able to vote for 5 players for each team.
Although a regular Captain's Mode match, there was no secrecy between the teams, mainly making fun picks to please the crowd. During the early picking phase, the captains of both teams swapped their seats to mess with the first picks of the opposing teams, before going back to their own seats to finish the picking phase. The playing booths were completely open, so that both teams could hear each other, the casters and the crowd.
