Bad against...[]

Drow Ranger icon.png
  • Marksmanship allows Drow Ranger to pierce Terrorblade's high natural base armor. Since Terrorblade doesn't like to buy armor items like Assault Cuirass icon.png Assault Cuirass, that makes him very vulnerable to Drow.
  • Gust prevents Terrorblade from from using Sunder.
Earth Spirit icon.png
Axe icon.png
  • Berserker's Call and Counter Helix together can be devastating to Terrorblade, especially if Terrorblade has a lot of illusions. Their high attack speed will trigger Counter Helix a lot, and the pure damage will quickly slice through Terrorblade's low health and kill his illusions. More importantly, the taunt triumphs Black King Bar, Terrorblade's only survival item besides Manta Style which he's probably used to deal damage rather than purge debuffs. With enough burst damage by teammates, Terrorblade can be finished off even before taunt duration runs out.
  • Culling Blade finishes off Terrorblade before he has the chance to Sunder due to his low health in the early to mid game.
Elder Titan icon.png
  • Echo Stomp and Astral Spirit allow the enemy team to coordinate a kill on Terrorblade before he can Sunder.
  • Natural Order cripples Terrorblade's armor that he crucially needs to survive due to his low strength gain.
Ursa icon.png
  • Ursa deals lots of damage during the laning phase before Terrorblade has Sunder available.
  • Enrage's damage reduction helps Ursa survive after Terrorblade has used Sunder.
Lina icon.png
Dark Seer icon.png
  • Dark Seer's Vacuum and Ion Shell allows him to clear a wave of Terrorblade's illusions.
  • Wall of Replica can create stronger illusions of Terrorblade.
  • If Dark Seer can use Vacuum to help teammates land their AoE skills, Terrorblade will be quickly killed before he even gets a chance to use Sunder.
Shadow Shaman icon.png
  • Ether Shock can destroy Terrorblade's illusions.
  • Hex prevents Terrorblade from using Sunder or Manta Style icon.png Manta Style in bad situations. Hex can also destroy one of his illusions.
  • Shackles prevents Terrorblade from using his skills and items, whether to fight, survive, or dispel it in any way. In addition, Terrorblade has no solutions to cancel it.
Ember Spirit icon.png
  • Ember Spirit can deal devastating damage to Terrorblade and his illusions with Sleight of Fist.
  • Terrorblade has no disable to lock down Ember Spirit and prevent him from escaping with Fire Remnant. In addition, he doesn't like purchasing disabling items, which are the only solutions to deal with Ember Spirit.
Dazzle icon.png
  • Shallow Grave saves an ally whom Terrorblade has used Sunder on.
Necrophos icon.png
  • Reaper's Scythe can kill Terrorblade quickly before he has chance to use Sunder.
  • Ghost Shroud protects Necrophos against Terrorblade's high attack damage.
Outworld Destroyer icon.png
  • Arcane Orb deals pure damage against the real Terrorblade, bypassing his high base armor.
  • Arcane Orb and Sanity's Eclipse will make very short work of Terrorblade and his illusions.
Phantom Lancer icon.png
  • With no wave clear and mostly focus on dealing single target damage, Terrorblade will be overwhelmed in no time due to Juxtapose.
  • Reflection can be dispeled instantly with Doppelganger.
  • As Phantom Lancer is a natural Diffusal Blade 1 icon.png Diffusal Blade carrier, he can drain Terrorblade's mana, leaving Terrorblade no chance to use sunder to save himself.
Tinker icon.png
Underlord icon.png
  • Atrophy Aura reduces Terrorblade's damage significantly, even during Metamorphosis.
  • Firestorm deals significant damage to Terrorblade and his illusions from a safe distance
  • Pit of Malice can keep Terrorblade and his illusions under control
  • Dark Rift and Fiend's Gate (requires Aghanim's Scepter icon.png Aghanim's Scepter) can bail out Underlord's team away from a bad engagement against a Terrorblade under Metamorphosis
  • Likewise, either Dark Rift or Fiend's Gate can be used to quickly move Underlord's team to the frontlines, to strike Terrorblade's team during Metamorphosis' 155 seconds of cooldown
Zeus icon.png
  • Arc Lightning and Lightning Bolt can easily burst Terrorblade and his illusions.
  • Static Field automatically hits everything in a big radius, taking a huge chunk of health out of Terrorblade's illusions, regardless of how much health they have.
Timbersaw icon.png
  • Timbersaw's spell combos all deal magical and pure damage, completely ignoring Terrorblade's high base armor and clearing his illusions very quickly due to the AoE damage.
  • Reactive Armor negates most of Terrorblade's damage against Timbersaw, and its high health regeneration and armor bonuses can help Timbersaw survive after being Sundered.
Morphling icon.png
Storm Spirit icon.png
  • Storm Spirit heavy magic damage bypass Terroblade high armor.
  • Ball Lightning can either use to initiates Terroblade from distance or kite Terroblade from using Sunder as he has no source of disable to deal with Storm Spirit.
Sven icon.png
Skywrath Mage icon.png
  • Arcane Bolt can target Terrorblade's low health pool in the laning phase.
  • Ancient Seal can prevent Terrorblade from casting sunder.

Others[]

Items[]

  • Linken's Sphere icon.png Linken's Sphere will prevent Sunder, and Terrorblade has no solutions to waste its cooldown. In addition. Terrorblade doesn't like purchasing single-target items, which are the only solutions to pop it.
  • Orchid Malevolence icon.png Orchid Malevolence will prevent Terrorblade from using his abilities.
  • Scythe of Vyse icon.png Scythe of Vyse and Nullifier icon.png Nullifier will prevent Terrorblade from using both, abilities and items.
  • Maelstrom icon.png Maelstrom and Mjollnir icon.png Mjollnir are very effective at destroying illusions.
  • Ethereal Blade icon.png Ethereal Blade and Dagon 1 icon.png Dagon. are very effective at bursting down Terrorblade before he can save himself with Sunder. In addition, they are both strong against him in their own way: the former can be used to protect the targeted hero after Terrorblade uses Sunder on him/her. It can also be used to disarm Terrorblade and make him more vulnerable to magic damage (granted that he has no dispelling items), and besides Sunder, Terrorblade has no other ways of dealing damage then using direct attacks, while the latter can instantly destroy illusions upon casting and can finish real Terrorblade off before he can save himself with Sunder.
  • Satanic icon.png Satanic can quickly nullify the effects of Sunder.
  • Skull Basher icon.png Skull Basher and Abyssal Blade icon.png Abyssal Blade can prevent Terrorblade from using his abilities and attacking. This item is especially effective on heroes with high attack speed and high attack damage.
  • Black King Bar icon.png Black King Bar allows heroes who carry it to protect themselves from Terrorblade's abilities.
  • Monkey King Bar icon.png Monkey King Bar is an item that allows right-clickers to deal magical damage, that can bypass Terrorblade's high armor.

Good against...[]

Ancient Apparition icon.png
  • Sunder is not affected by Ice Blast and will still swap health with any target as usual.
Bane icon.png
  • Nightmare can easily cleared by Terrorblade's spammable illusions.
  • Almost all of Bane minimap icon.png Bane's damage revolves exclusively around single-target effects. Terrorblade can almost always get a Sunder off.
Viper icon.png
  • Almost all of Viper minimap icon.png Viper's damage revolves exclusively around single-target damage-over-time effects. Furthermore, without any hard disables, Terrorblade can almost always get a Sunder off.
  • Viper has low mobility and Corrosive Skin doesn't protect against physical damage, which means that Terrorblade under Metamorphosis can quickly kill Viper.
Techies icon.png
  • Techies' mines can be destroyed by Terrorblade's spammable illusions.
  • Terrorblade can push without the fear of dying to mines; he can instead use his illusions to push.
Shadow Fiend icon.png
  • The Reflection of Shadow Fiend cause Presence of the Dark Lord to affect Shadow Fiend, reducing his armor and making it easier for Terrorblade to kill him. Shadow Fiend also doesn't have lots of survivability or control skills in order to escape.
  • If Shadow Fiend chooses to go for a right-click build, he'll have a hard time against Terrorblade's high armor.
Pudge icon.png
  • Pudge has low armor and low mobility, making him a prime target for Terrorblade's right-clicks.
  • Meat Hook is a lot harder to land on the real Terrorblade if he has illusions around him.
  • Because Dismember targets only one hero, Terrorblade's illusions can potentially save the real Terrorblade if he's caught in it.
Anti-Mage icon.png
  • Reflection's illusion carries Mana Break as well, making it useful in fights.
  • Anti-Mage cannot manfight Terrorblade at any stages of the game.
Sniper icon.png
  • Sunder can save himself or his allies from Assassinate.
  • Sniper relies on right-clicks to deal damage, and Terrorblade's high armor can reduce his damage by quite a bit.
  • Terrorblade is a far harder carry than Sniper is, so a well-farmed Terrorblade can easily defeat a Sniper.
Spectre icon.png
  • If Terrorblade's health is low enough, he can safely use Sunder on Spectre without any consequences from her Dispersion and Spectre has no way to prevent it.
  • Although Desolate deals pure damage and can bypass his high armor, Terrorblade usually stays nearby his illusions, effectively disabling Desolate.
  • Reflection is also effective against her as it does not only slows her down but Desolate can also be used against herself.
  • Dispersion damage is reduced thanks to Terrorblade's high natural armor.
  • Terrorblade is one of few heroes that can manfight Spectre. Not everything is lost if Terrorblade managed to reach late game.
Lifestealer icon.png
  • Reflection's illusion carries Feast as well, making it useful in fights.
  • Feast cannot compensate for Terrorblade's incoming high damage, due to his low Strength gain.
  • Open Wounds is a lot harder to land on the real Terrorblade if he has illusions around him.
  • Lifestealer relies on right-clicks to deal damage, and Terrorblade's high armor can reduce his damage by quite a bit.
Witch Doctor icon.png
  • Witch Doctor's Maledict burst damage can be prevented by Sunder if timed correctly.
  • Death Ward deals physical damage, and Terrorblade's high armor can help him survive against Death Ward.
  • However, be careful that Paralyzing Cask is commonly tricky to dodge as Terrorblade, due to his reliance on illusions, and Maledict can kill Terrorblade if he has no target to be Sundered with, especially in the early game.
Wraith King icon.png
  • Terrorblade has very high armor gain, which helps him against Wraith King's physical damage.
  • Wraith King is not good against illusion-based heroes as he has no AoE form abilities to deal with Terrorblade's Illusions.
  • Terrorblade is a common Manta Style icon.png Manta Style and Diffusal Blade 1 icon.png Diffusal Blade carrier to deal with Reincarnation until Wraith King has Aghanim's Shard icon.png Aghanim's Shard.
  • A Reincarnated Wraith King is a good setup for Sunder if Terrorblade's health is low enough.

Others[]

  • Heroes with high base damage (Morphling minimap icon.png Morphling, Tiny minimap icon.png Tiny, Drow Ranger minimap icon.png Drow Ranger), heroes with mana burning abilities (Anti-Mage minimap icon.png Anti-Mage), and Diffusal Blade 1 icon.png Diffusal Blade users (Juggernaut minimap icon.png Juggernaut or Riki minimap icon.png Riki) will suffer from Reflection's illusions.
  • Sunder can prevent Terrorblade's or an ally's death by swapping health, making damage-over-time spells inefficient. Heroes that rely on damage-over-time abilities like Venomancer minimap icon.png Venomancer and Huskar minimap icon.png Huskar will have a hard time against Sunder.
  • Terrorblade is one of the strongest carries in the late game, due to his resilience against physical damage, which can be a problem for almost every strong burst physical damage carries, such as Phantom Assassin minimap icon.png Phantom Assassin and Templar Assassin minimap icon.png Templar Assassin.

Works well with...[]

Dazzle icon.png
  • Shallow Grave protects Terrorblade from death, giving him more time to use his Sunder and leaves his Sundered target on the lowest possible HP.
Oracle icon.png
  • Fate's Edict offsets some of Terrorblade's weakness to magic damage.
  • False Promise can keep Terrorblade alive, allowing him to cast Sunder.
Shadow Demon icon.png
  • Disruption creates even more powerful illusions than Conjure Image increasing pushing power. It can be useful to give him a chance to use Sunder as well.
Necrophos icon.png
  • A low HP Terrorblade can use Sunder on a high HP enemy hero, immediately followed by a Reaper's Scythe from an allied Necrophos minimap icon.png Necrophos, almost guaranteeing the kill on the enemy hero.

Others[]

Items[]

  • Tranquil Boots (Active) icon.png Tranquil Boots heal the user after Terrorblade has used Sunder to gain HP for himself, keeping both parties on the map.
  • Sunder works well with any teammates carrying Dagon 1 icon.png Dagon, ensuring an instant kill to an enemy hero.
