Introduction[]

i'm unhappy with the introduction of this article. spectre is one of the if not the most powerful carry in the entire game and she is not a ganker. even if you have desolate and spectral dagger both maxed and you are alone, you get a 65 pure damage buff, 18% movespeed buff and 18% slow on your target. that's almost never enough to kill someone. i would rather describe her as a hardcarry and as extremely weak compared to almost any other hero in both early and midgame. -- silverspawn 02:00, 6 October 2012 (UTC)

how about this:
Mercurial the Spectre is a meele agility hardcarry with a unique set of abilities. Her Spectral dagger allowes her pass through objects and terrain, which makes her very mobile and also allows for quick escapes. With her ultimate, she can displace herself near any opponent on the map while desolate adds a pure damage buff to any attack if Spectre is alone. Combined, these two spells allow her to effectivly pick up fleeing enemy heroes with low hp anywhere on the map. Her true strength, however, lies in dispersion, which absorbs a percental amount of all incoming damage and reflects it on every enemy unit nearby. This makes her one of the strongest carries in the game, since she's extremely difficult to kill and deals huge amounts of damage whenever she's attacked. To maximize the use of dispersion, she's usually played as a tank in the late game. -- silverspawn 02:47, 6 October 2012 (UTC)

How about mentioning drums and taking stats over dispersion? And offensive bonus from armlet doesn't works for illusions, only stats. anonymous 18 April 2013

Dispersion[]

I've been wondering about this for a while; does dispersion reduce pure damage? --Garnetinvoker (talk) 14:01, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

It reduces all 3 damage types. Bu3ny (talk) 11:01, 7 January 2015 (UTC)

I have a questions regarding Dispersion: Is it correct to say that it reflects damage after all reductions? ("Dispersion reflects the damage after damage block, magic resistance and armor reductions.") Psion1C (talk) 20:15, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

The damage of Dispersion is based on what Spectre took after the 3 mentioned sources of reductions, magic res, armor and damage block (and magic damage barriers like pipe). The actual damage reduction of the ability itself stacks additively with other sources of damage manipulation. But don't bother with that now, I'll test their stacking behavior and update it later. Can anyone explain the second part of the following note to me? Increases effective HP by 11%/16%/22%/28%, and potentially reflecting that amount per unit. Psion1C (talk) 13:04, 29 September 2015 (UTC)

I would guess that it is supposed to mean that in order to kill Spectre as an anemy you need to deal 11%/16%/22%/28% damage more than her current HP and the same amount gets reflected back to enemies within the 300 full damage radius. But still, the second part seems not to be clear enough here, if I'm correct. Psion1C (talk) 11:48, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

Minimum Radius: 300 I just tested attacking Spectre from point blank range and still got damaged by Dispersion. So it is not really a "Minimum", but the distance from where the damage starts to decrease?!The preceding unsigned comment was added by 109.121.245.69 (talk) • (contribs) 23 October 2017 • Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Made it clearer with the note "Reflects the full 7%/12%/17%/22% within a 300 radius from Spectre. Then the reflected damage decreases linearly up to a 700 radius from Spectre.". --Psion1C (talk) 17:18, 9 April 2020 (UTC)

Desolate and Dispersion against Roshan[]

Does Desolate work against Roshan? Also, the 6.84 patch notes say that Dispersion no longer ignores Roshan, but according to my tests Roshan still doesn't receive any damage from Dispersion. Is this a bug? Psion1C (talk) 09:29, 2 October 2015 (UTC)

After testing this, it seems like Desolate works against Roshan, but Dispersion does not. Can someone confirm these results, and is it indented that Dispersion doesn't damage Rosh or is this a bug? Psion1C (talk) 18:10, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
