new tooltips[]

I was an IMG of the Item tooltips. I cant post on my profile for some reason, so I reply here. The item ability names should be updated. I saw for example that Healing Salve', effect is now Salve. The "Everlasting" effect of gem and rapier should not use the ability template. -- Buny

Item names[]

I'm not entirely sure, but I think some items lost part of their name from Dota 1 (Khadgar's Pipe of Insight, Guinsoo's Scythe of Vyse and some others lost their first name). Again, I'm not 100% sure since sources aren't 100% reliable until beta opens. ChocolateWaffle 10:46, 1 September 2011 (CDT)

I see. I was actually correcting "Insigh" to "Insight", and decided to add Khadgar. Apologies. I'm also not certain of how exactly to sign at the end here. God of Death
Some items we're not sure of, some items we know of new names but can't confirm them with concrete evidence. I don't think Khadgar's pipe changed. Also, you sign talk by adding four tildes (~~~~) or clicking the signature button at the top of the box. --Lancey 11:03, 1 September 2011 (CDT)
No need for apologies :p. In fact, we should stick to adding info from the first dota until beta opens, then we can tweak names and stats.ChocolateWaffle 11:12, 1 September 2011 (CDT)

Item Table[]

Func door started and I finished a table of all items by image. Once we've filled in the remaining items, we can implement it wherever we need to.

User:Lancey/Sandbox/Item_Table

Also, if you have a chance, look over it and provide suggestions, or tell me where i definitely made a typo. --Lancey 19:46, 1 September 2011 (CDT)

I see no typos at first glance (I guess it will be easier to tell once all item pages are done) but why are the Legaras and Cache's name changed? Are they like this in dota 2? Anyway, like many other pages it will need tweaking once Valve decides what names cause copyright trouble or not. As for suggestions, the table is intuitive (providing you know the items) and separating them in 2 groups makes it look better. Would it fit at the end of each item page like in the TF2Wiki? Maybe there could also be a separate table for each shop so we can put a description at the Item page of what kind of items are sold there as in "The Protectorate sells items to boost your survivality" or "The Ancient of Wonders sells useful items with limited uses" ChocolateWaffle 20:34, 1 September 2011 (CDT)
The names are abbreviated for now, and will probably change in the future. We already know that there's no such thing as "Ancient of Wonders", so it's safe to assume that most things will be getting an overhaul. If we were to add it to each item page it could probably use some slight tweaking, but it is an idea. By separate tables, if you mean creating multiple templates, that's perfectly doable, but this is just a prototype thing for now. -Lancey 21:54, 1 September 2011 (CDT)
Found a typo, it's Leragas not Legaras :p ChocolateWaffle 07:33, 2 September 2011 (CDT)
Fixed! -Lancey 13:00, 2 September 2011 (CDT)
I also made a navbox here that we could probably append on the end of item pages. It's pretty big and the navbox template is still using colors from Wikipedia. -Lancey 13:00, 2 September 2011 (CDT)
I think that Cheese should be added to your wonderful Items table. Thomaseng 10:50, 11 October 2011 (CDT)

Separating Aegis from the Protectorate[]

This has been bugging me for a while now. The Aegis can't actually be purchased, but we file it under a shop. We should separate it just so that we don't confuse anyone who might not understand right off the bat. -Lancey 22:57, 1 September 2011 (CDT)

Yeah, when I made the temporary item list I put it there only because playdota and dotatwo list it as so. It could look a bit weird alone, but it could help clarify. Maybe there could be a section for drops and include there the Aegis and runes maybe? Also offtopic: where did you get the icon for Elvenskin? No web that I know has it listed so I assumed it had been removed like the magic wand ChocolateWaffle 00:14, 2 September 2011 (CDT)
Got them from the tournament page. A lot of items have somewhat changed names for their images, like how Scepter of Divinity is called Cyclone.
I was just going to separate the Aegis and leave it by itself, but adding the runes to the item list is a good idea. -Lancey 08:30, 2 September 2011 (CDT)
Item is a something that takes space in your inventory. Aegis is an item while runes are not. And where is the cheese?--XRdR 12:04, 24 September 2011 (CDT)
Runes can be considered a especial kind of pickup items that take your bottle slot or activate inmediately. I think they fit well the "map pickups" spot. -ChocolateWaffle 12:13, 24 September 2011 (CDT)

Updating the items[]

Since valve's announcement beta testers are able to publish and stream content, one of them being this. It shows how all the shops are currently arranged and the name the items are given, surprisingly, many have changed. -ChocolateWaffle 22:36, 22 September 2011 (CDT)

Fortunately changing the names isn't nearly as difficult as finding the information for the items in the first place. I'll go ahead and start moving pages around. -Lancey 12:03, 23 September 2011 (CDT)

Split[]

Side Lane Shop needs its own page. Opinions? -Lancey 13:59, 7 October 2011 (CDT)

Maybe we could have explanation+list of items on this page, then link to pages explaining each shop and what is sold there. -ChocolateWaffle 02:45, 8 October 2011 (CDT)
I'd use this page to list items sold but with no explanation, then link to the main articles Side-Lane Store and secret Store to with explanations and list of sold items KDT4ever 16:01, 23 October 2011 (CDT)

Some fishy error with translations?[]

I don't see why any dutch person would ever want to read a dutch translation of everything, but any way, there's something conflicting here, displaying broke dutch links instead of english http://i.imgur.com/IPkoJ.png G1real 11:19, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Updated Items List Format?[]

Why aren't we using Lancey's item table format? http://www.dota2wiki.com/wiki/User:Lancey/Sandbox/Item_Table

It looks much better and is well organized. --LolCakeLazors 05:51, 16 November 2012 (UTC)

Buyable Items with Disabled Effect[]

"Most Heroes can use most items, but some items will provide no effect or cannot be purchased by some Heroes." Basher is no longer buyable on Slardar, Void, SB, etc. I don't know if there are any viable examples.

Should the changes to item availability (like venge and pudge being now able to use blink since 6.79)be included in the changelog of the item page?

No Cost Efficiency Listings? (Because it's useless and we don't need it)[]

Hey all, I noticed you guys don't have a list of cost efficiency on this site, something I miss from the League of Legends wiki.

If you don't know what I mean, here's a table [1] of how much gold you pay per stat in LoL. For example, a common item in League is the Dagger [2], which costs 400g and grants +12% attack speed. When you divide the two you find that 1% attack speed costs 33.33g. The same concept applies to Dota.

I think we should list the cost efficiency of every item on their respective pages. Yasha, for example gives.

  • +16 AGI (800g)
  • +15 Attack Speed (1200g)
  • +10% Movement Speed (variable value)

If the item costs 2050g, then the movement speed bonus needs to be worth at least 50g for this item to be gold efficient.

The following list includes the gold value per stat.

  • +1 Mana = 4g, derived from Energy Booster
  • +1 Health = 4.4g, derived from Vitality Booster
  • +1% Mana Regen = 6.5g, derived from Ring of Regen
  • +1 Movespeed = 9g, derived from Boots of Speed
  • +1% Magic Resist = 36.66g derived from Cloak
  • +1 Strength = 50g, derived from Gauntlets of Strength
  • +1 Agility = 50g, derived from Slippers of Agility
  • +1 Intelligence = 50g, derived from Mantle of Intelligence
  • +1 Damage = 50g, derived from Blades of Attack
  • +1% Lifesteal = 60g, derived from Morbid Mask
  • +1 Attack Speed = 80g, derived from Quarterstaff
  • +1 Armor = 87.5g, derived from Ring of Protection
  • +1 Health Regen = 175g, derived from Ring of Health

Looking for stats is really inconsistent right now. If you compare Attack speed and Movement speed you can see the pages differ visually when they really contain the same information. On the pages for AGI, STR, and INT, I should be able to find what items give me those stats, but right now they don't.

76.218.240.42 20:57, 19 December 2013 (UTC)

No we do not. Your cost efficiency is completely relative to other arbitrary items, when it should be relative to the items you build. You're really trying to over complicate this. By that logic, strength, intelligence and agility should all be valued at around 16 gold because the ironwood is the most cost effective. The inherent flaw with what you're trying to say is that you can't have 300 ironwood branches because of space limitations. Gauging items relative to other items should not be done at all. If we wanted to analyze the price, it should strictly be done with regards to the items used to build that item.

Moon Shard and Boots of Travel level 2 icon problems[]

Moon Shard shows the same icon as Oblivion Staff while Boots of Travel's icon is missing altogether. I don't know how to fix it but I thought I'd mention it here. --93.47.39.128 11:00, 2 May 2015 (UTC)

please help[]

The "upgraded items" have been replaced by the basic items, I assume you revise an edit?

Can't save the zh-hans page because of endless timeout. Need help. Elite stay (talk) 13:17, 21 January 2016 (UTC)

Recipes icon of new items[]

Will they be uploaded, right? --Elite stay (talk) 06:37, 10 November 2017 (UTC)

Yes, they will, once I get to it. ~~ Bu3ny (talk) 10:55, 10 November 2017 (UTC)

do some items have an animation delay?[]

when naga siren uses her sleep into meteor hammer combination, it is not possible to blink out of it, as the sleep lingers for 0.5s and the meteor hammer has 0.5s effect delay, so the end of the sleep and the stun should happen at the exact same time. how is it possible then that affected heroes can still prevent the stun by using their BKB? maybe the meteor hammer or the blink dagger do indeed have an animation?

BKB is an instant spell, which means it has the highest priority of cast order and doesn't need that 0.03 sec server tick, while Blink Dagger isn't. You can check what you can use on here. --Elite stay (talk) 07:42, 28 January 2018 (UTC)

Non-sellable items[]

I recommend adding a section of the few items that cannot be sold. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 31.5.99.215 (talk) • (contribs) 7 May 2018 • Please sign your posts with ~~~~

I have created Items/Selling. I'm not sure if it's complete so feel free to update it if I missed something. --Litzsch 09:33, 7 May 2018 (UTC)

secret and side shop have 'restricted inventory'?[]

The article includes a passage about the secret and side shop having 'restricted inventory'. As they sell some items that are unavailable at the fountain shops, shouldn't their inventory be called something else, maybe 'different inventory'?

Huge display error in several section[]

Currently a ton of <a href> tags are broken on this page

Unreleased Neutral Items Category[]

Is this section of the page an oversight? It looks like all of the items in this are either released or retired, as far as I can tell. I think it'd make sense to fully remove the subcategory, unless there are a few items in there that were actually never used. Fixed the table, thanks. ~~ Bu3ny (Talk)

Wrong category for Revenant's Brooch[]

Even though it seems illogical but in Dota 2 Revenant's Brooch is in Weapons category, not the Magical category. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 145.255.10.106 (talk) • (contribs) • Please sign your posts with ~~~~
