Abaddon Abaddon&Aphotic Shield Aphotic Shield hero Abaddon Abaddon Aphotic Shield 1 Abaddon Aphotic Shield 2 File:Aphotic Shield icon.png

Summons dark energies around an ally unit, creating a shield that absorbs a set amount of damage before expiring. When the shield is destroyed it will burst and deal damage equal to the amount it could absorb to an area around it. Removes certain types of negative buffs and stuns on cast.

The powers of the black mist rise to absorb attacks like the black mist absorbs light. Target Unit Allies Enemies Magical Yes

Shield persists if it was placed before spell immunity.

W T 100/110/120/130 12/10/8/6 11/9/7/5

Causes Aphotic Shield to apply a Curse of Avernus stack on enemies. Lowers Cooldown for Aphotic Shield by 1.

0.3 0.33
  • Aphotic Shield has the second lowest priority in the group of damage negating effects.
    • This means when combined with other damage negating abilities (e.g. Borrowed Time or Refraction), the shield does not absorb any damage until the other sources are gone.
  • Does not deal damage to invisible units or units in the Fog of War.
    • Losing the Aphotic Shield buff always causes it to burst and deal area damage, no matter how the shield was lost.
  • The area damage is independent from the amount of absorbed damage. It always deals the full 110/140/170/200 (Talent 210/240/270/300) damage.
  • The shield capacity and damage increasing Talent talent does not affect any of the current active Aphotic Shields.
    • Increases both shield capacity and burst area damage despite the talent description stating it increases the shield capacity only.
  • Successive casts on the same unit do not stack. Upon recast, the previous shield gets destroyed (dealing area damage) and a new one gets applied.
Abaddon Abaddon&Borrowed Time Borrowed Time ultimate Abaddon Abaddon Borrowed Time File:Borrowed Time icon.png

When activated, all damage dealt to you will heal instead of harm. Most negative buffs will also be removed. If the ability is not on cooldown, it will automatically activate if your health falls below 400.

The most unnatural of all the gifts of the Font of Avernus, this power defies mortal understanding. What should hurt, instead heals; and what should kill gives strength anew. No Target Aura aghs Self Allied Heroes aghs No No Partially

The passive activating when below 400 health is disabled.
The ability to fire Mist Coils at allies is not disabled.

R B 0 60/50/40

52/42/32

Increases duration. While Borrowed Time is active, anytime an ally takes more than 525 damage while within 1600 range of Abaddon, an individual Mist Coil will automatically fire towards that ally.

0 0
  • Interrupts Abaddon's channeling abilities upon cast. Does not interrupt channeling abilities when passively activated.
  • Applies a strong dispel on Abaddon upon activating, be it manually or passively activated.
  • Activates automatically when a damage instance (without the HP Removal flag) drops Abaddon's health below 400, or hits Abaddon while already below 400 health.
    • The damage is dealt before Borrowed Time is activated, meaning if the damage instance exceeds Abaddon's current health, he dies without Borrowed Time activating.
    • This also means that it does not save Abaddon from instantly killing effects (e.g. Culling Blade and Ice Blast).
  • Borrowed Time converts damage into healing after reductions.
  • Borrowed Time has the highest priority in the group of damage negating abilities.
    • This means when combined with other damage negating effects (e.g. Aphotic Shield or False Promise), Borrowed Time negates the damage while the others do not.
    • For False Promise, this means that Borrowed Time first turns damage into heals, and then it is registered by False Promise as a heal and not as damage.
  • As with all damage manipulating effects, Borrowed Time only negates and heals from the 3 damage types. It does not heal from HP Removal.
  • With Aghanim's Scepter icon.png Aghanim's Scepter, Borrowed Time provides a 1600 radius aura, its buff lingers for 0.5 seconds.
    • Places a damage counting buff on allies within the radius, counting any damage the ally takes after all reductions.
    • The damage counter does not react on damage flagged as HP Removal.
    • The counted damage is checked on each damage instance. This means only one Mist Coil may be released per damage instance, no matter how big it was.
    • If the counted damage is higher than the 525 health trigger threshold, the threshold value gets subtracted from it, and a Mist Coil gets released.
    • Since the threshold value gets subtracted from the counted damage, excess damage of big damage instances are not lost, and directly count towards the next possible trigger.
    • This means a single 1575 damage instance (3 times larger than the trigger threshold) triggers one Mist Coil, but the next two damage instances are guaranteed to trigger a Mist Coil each.
    • The damage counter has no reset timer. It only resets when the ally loses the buff in between damage instances.
    • The released Mist Coils are based on the current level are passively cast automatically and instantly, regardless of mana and cooldown.
    • Mist Coil notes fully apply. If it is not learned, no coils are released.
    • The aura does not affect invulnerable or hidden units.
Abaddon Abaddon&Curse of Avernus Curse of Avernus hero Abaddon Abaddon Curse of Avernus File:Curse of Avernus icon.png

Abaddon strikes an enemy, slowing the target's movement speed. If the target gets hit 4 times, they become affected by a chilling curse causing them to be silenced and slowed, and all attacks against them gain an attack speed boost.

While the baptized draw strength from the Font, the gifts of Avernus are debilitating to the uninitiated. Passive Allies Enemies Yes Yes Yes

Disables placing the initial debuff, or increasing its counter. If already cursed, prevents allies from gaining the speed buff upon attacking the cursed enemy.

E F

Increases base slow by 10%.

  • Each successful attack done on an enemy unit without the curse debuff, places the initial debuff, or increases its counter if it already has the debuff.
  • The initial debuff's duration gets refreshed on each hit. The required hits do not need to all happen within 5 seconds.
  • When the initial debuff's counter reaches 4 (Talent 3), it gets removed and replaced by the curse debuff.
  • Any allied heroes attacking the cursed enemy gets the speed buff. The buff is granted upon successfully landing an attack on the cursed target.
    • This means missed attacks do not grant the buff. For ranged heroes, this also means they gain the buff only on projectile impact.
    • The speed buff only works when attacking cursed targets. When executing an attack against a unit that is not cursed, the buff gets removed.
  • The speed buff is only granted to allied heroes, illusions and clones. Non-hero units do not get the buff. Treats creep-heroes as creeps.
  • The debuffs can be placed on buildings, but cannot be placed on wards or allied units.
Abaddon Abaddon&Mist Coil Mist Coil hero Abaddon Abaddon Mist Coil 1 Abaddon Mist Coil 2 File:Mist Coil icon.png

Q D 50 5.5 4.5

Causes Mist Coil to apply a Curse of Avernus stack on enemies. Lowers Cooldown for Mist Coil by 1.

0.25 0.4
  • The projectile travels at a speed of 1300.
  • Deals pure damage to self and magical damage to enemies.
  • The self-inflicted damage is applied instantly upon cast and never lethal, so it cannot be used to deny oneself.
    • Deals 55/80/105/130 (Talent 82.5/107.5/132.5/157.5) damage to self.
  • If the target ally turns invulnerable or hidden before projectile impact, it still gets healed by it.
  • The heal and damage increasing Talent talent immediately upgrades all of Abaddon's currently flying Mist Coil projectiles.
  • The level 25 Talent talent adds a 500 radius to this ability. The ability must be centered over a unit still.
    • Upon cast, Abaddon sends coils towards every ally and enemy within the radius, excluding himself.
    • These behave just like a regular cast, and can be disjointed normally.
    • Also targets units inside the Fog of War and invisible units. However, invisible targets instantly disjoint it.
    • The self-damage stays the same, regardless of how many Mist Coils are released.
Abaddon/Old Abilities Abaddon/Old Abilities&Curse of Avernus (Pre 7.20) Curse of Avernus (Pre 7.20) hero Abaddon File:Curse of Avernus icon.png

Abaddon strikes an enemy with chilling curse on each attack, causing all units who attack the slowed enemy to gain increased movement speed, along with faster attack speed, for a limited time.

The curse that slows an enemy, speeds an ally. Passive Allies Enemies No Partially

Illusions cannot place the debuff on enemies, but they do get the buff when starting an attack.

Yes E F
  • On each successful attack, Abaddon places a debuff on the target which slows them.
    • The attacks first apply the debuff, then their own damage.
  • Every allied unit which starts attacking a unit which has the Curse of Avernus debuff on, gets the speed increasing buff.
  • This means it does not matter if Abaddon is still attacking the unit. As long as a unit has the debuff on, allies get the speed buff upon attacking it.
  • The slowing debuff can be placed on buildings, but cannot be placed on wards or allied units.
  • The speed increasing buff is not applied on buildings, wards or enemies attacking a debuffed unit.
  • Abaddon himself always gets the speed increasing buff upon starting an attack, regardless of the debuff, except when the attack target is a building.
    • However, after having placed the debuff on a building, Abaddon gets the buff like how allies do upon attacking it.
  • Successive attacks on the same target do no stack, but refresh the duration instead. This goes for the buff and debuff.
  • Choosing the slow upgrading talent does not affect any of Abaddon's currently placed Curse of Avernus debuffs.

    • The double gets dispeled as if it died, removing all modifiers which are removed by death. This means most modifiers which persist through death are not removed.
    • Its cooldowns are not refreshed upon getting re-summoned, so all cooldowns from the previous cast carry over.

  • The double is a clone and therefore treated exactly like a hero by all abilities, since it is not an illusion.
  • The double has a 180/240/300 Gold and a 180/240/300XP bounty. The gold is granted to the killing player, the experience is distributed like any other experience.
    • However, if the double is killed by creeps or buildings, the gold gets distributed as well, similar to how hero kills do when not killed by players.
  • Ability effects that grant bonuses when an enemy unit dies (i.e. Heartstopper Aura), do not grant any bonuses for killing the double.
    • This non-crediting also prevents Duel from granting damage when the double loses.
    • It does not grant any bonus gold bounty either when it dies while affected by Track.
  • The Tempest Double does not passively gain any experience like heroes usually do, so it does not leech experience from its allies.
    • Experience the Double would have gained, by killing an enemy hero or using Hand of Midas, is always given to the main Arc Warden instead.

Arcanist's Armor Arcanist's Armor&Mega Shield Mega Shield item Arcanist's Armor Arcanist's Armor Mega Shield 1 Arcanist's Armor Mega Shield 2 File:Unknown icon.png

Force Field Aura Grants 35% Damage Reflection for 5 seconds.

No Target Enemies Partially

Affects spell immune allies. Does not deal damage to spell immune enemies.

No

The buff is placed on illusions and the visual effect appears, but it does not return any damage for them.

0 20
  • Interrupts the user's channeling abilities upon cast.
  • Adds a second temporary aura, that affects all allies within the same radius as the main aura, and lingers for the same duration.
  • Despite the item description, damage is only returned, not reflected. Does not reduce incoming damage for the affected allies.
  • Returns incoming damage before all manipulations. However, damage manipulation on the enemy still affects the damage normally.
  • Returned physical damage is affected by damage block as well.
  • The returned damage is always dealt right after the incoming damage.
  • Returned damage has the no-reflection flag, preventing its damage from interacting with other sources of damage with the same flag.
  • Fully ignores self-inflicted damage, and damage flagged as HP Removal.
  • Returns damage back to the source. This means damage done by summons is returned back to the summons, not to their owner.
Arcanist's Armor Arcanist's Armor&Shield Shield item Arcanist's Armor File:Unknown icon.png

Grants +5 armor and +20% Magic Resistance to all allies within 1200 radius.

Aura Allies No Partially

Illusions bestow the aura, but do not benefit from the magic resistance.

  • The magic resistance stacks multiplicatively with other sources of magic resistance.
  • Increases most heroes' total magic resistance to 40%, assuming basic 25% magic resistance and no other sources of magic resistance.
  • The aura's buff lingers for 0.5 seconds.
Armlet of Mordiggian Armlet of Mordiggian&Unholy Strength Unholy Strength item Armlet of Mordiggian Armlet of Mordiggian Unholy Strength 1 Armlet of Mordiggian Unholy Strength 2 File:Unknown icon.png

When active, Unholy Strength grants +35 damage, +25 strength and +4 armor, but drains 40 health per second.

You cannot die from the health drain when Unholy Strength is activated, nor from the strength loss when Unholy Strength is deactivated.

Toggle Self No Partially

Illusions do not benefit from the attack damage and armor and do not lose health per second. Illusions gain the strength over 0.6 seconds and copy the original's current health, resulting in them having 500 current health more than the hero if it was not at full health as the illusion was created.

0 0
  • Does not interrupt the user's channeling spells upon toggling.
  • The Strength attribute symbol.png strength bonus is granted during the 0.6 seconds delay, 4.17 strength in 0.1-second intervals.
  • This strength bonus does not keep the current health percentage, but instead adds 20 health per strength to the current health pool.
    • Increases current health by a total of 500 once all the strength is gained.
    • This health bonus does not count as a heal, so it is unaffected by amplifications, but still does not bypass Ice Blast.
    • However, while Doomed, it does not increase the current health, but keeps the current health percentage instead.
  • Drains 4.44 health in 0.11 second intervals, starting 0.11-second after toggled on.
  • Does not drain health while invulnerable and cannot bring the user's health below 1. Does not toggle Off when reaching 1 health.
  • Upon toggling Off, all bonuses are lost instantly. The strength loss works like the gain, and only affects the maximum health.
    • However, also like upon toggling On, the user loses 20 health per strength, instantly losing up to 500 of current health.
    • This health loss is not lethal either, and cannot drop the user's health below 1.
  • Unholy Strength does not persist through death. If it was active upon death, the user respawns with it deactivated.
  • Multiple instances of Unholy Strength do not stack.
    • If multiple Armlets are toggled On, toggling Off any Armlet removes the Unholy Strength buff.
  • Assuming no other factors, it takes 14.29 seconds for the health cost to overcome the bonus health on the active.

  • Reacts on any modifier, not only debuffs, including modifiers that are fully unaffected by status resistance.
  • Hair Trigger takes place before the triggering debuff is placed, meaning the triggering debuff is affected by the status resistance.
