Curse of the Silent (Pre 6.86)[]
Curses the target area, causing enemy heroes to take damage and lose mana until they cast a spell.
Cast Range: 800

Nortrom's lack of incantations is less of a problem for him than it is for his adversaries.
- This ability got replaced by Arcane Curse in the 6.86 gameplay patch.
- Curse of the Silent is dispelled when the affected hero casts a spell.
- Only affects heroes and illusions.
- Fully ignores toggle abilities, active attack modifiers and the abilities listed here.
- Successive casts of Curse of the Silent place always new, independent debuffs. This includes the curse applied by Global Silence.
- Cannot curse invulnerable or hidden units, however, if a unit turns invulnerable or hidden while being cursed, it still loses mana.
- Damages and burns mana in 1-second intervals, starting 1 second after the debuff is applied, resulting in 6 instances.
- Can deal up to 120/210/300/390 damage (before reductions) and burn up to 48/96/144/192 mana on a single unit.
- Applies the mana loss first on each tick, and then the damage.
- The sound effect played on every damage instance is only audible to the affected unit's player.
Star Storm (Pre 6.15)[]
- This used to be Silencer's 1st ability, and got replaced by Curse of the Silent in the 6.15 gameplay patch.
- The meteors start spawning after 1 second of channeling and need approximately 0.57 seconds to hit their targets.
- Meteors may spawn at any time after having channeled for 1 second, but require Silencer to keep channeling in order to spawn.
- If Silencer is not channeling as the meteor hits the target, it deals no damage. Silencer must channel until the meteor hits for it to deal damage.
- This sometimes leads to meteors dealing no damage without being able to do anything against that.
- This happens when a meteor spawns too late. Since the spell can be only channeled for 1.99 seconds, meteors spawning at later than ~1.42 seconds deal no damage.

Silencer will permanently steal 2 (4 with Talent) intelligence from any enemy hero that dies within 925 range or is killed by the Silencer.
- This ability was merged with Glaives of Wisdom in the 7.25 gameplay patch.
- This is an innate ability and does not need to be skilled. It is not bound to any ability, but to Silencer himself.
- Stolen intelligence is directly removed from the enemy's base intelligence and added to Silencer's base intelligence.
- Can only steal from base intelligence + intelligence gained from levels. Bonus intelligence cannot be stolen.
- It does not matter how an enemy hero within the radius dies, Silencer always steals its intelligence.
- Silencer also always steals intelligence when he deals the killing blow on an enemy hero, regardless of distance.
- However, Silencer needs to be alive as the kill happens to steal the intelligence.
- Cannot steal intelligence from illusions or hero clones.
- When Silencer kills a Meepo clone however, he does steal intelligence, since killing a Meepo clone also kills the main Meepo.
- Cannot reduce enemy base intelligence below 1. Silencer also does not gain intelligence from heroes that are at 1 intelligence.
The bonus intelligence steal does not apply retroactively, meaning that taking the talent will not increase the amount of intelligence already stolen.
- Enemy non-intelligence heroes effectively lose 24 (

- This used to be Silencer's 2nd ability, and got replaced by Glaives of Wisdom in the 6.15 gameplay patch.
- Bounces in 0.25-second intervals, so healing all targets takes 0.75/1/1.25/1.5 seconds.
- Heals each target 0.25 seconds after having bounced to it, including the initial target.
- Can never heal the same unit twice per cast.
- This is how much each bounce heals on each level:
- Level 1: 120 / 90 / 67.5
- Level 2: 195 / 145.25 / 109.69 / 82.27
- Level 3: 250 / 187.5 / 140.63 / 105.47 / 79.1
- Level 4: 325 / 243.75 / 182.81 / 137.11 / 102.83 / 77.12
- All bounces together can heal up to 277.5 / 532.2 / 762.7 / 1068.63 health.
Ray of Disruption (5.10-5.62)[]
A spurt of energy damages all those caught in its wake. Units only take minimal damage unless they are already Silenced by Nortrom's ultimate.

- Ray of Disruption travels at a speed of 500.
- Can hit units up to 600 range away (travel distance + end radius).
- The complete area is shaped like a cone.
- The Ray first applies the damage, then the debuff.
- Can deal up to 75/150/225/300 damage to a single unit (before reductions).

- The spell which triggers the aura still takes effect.
- Last Word does not trigger on item use.

- Stolen intelligence is added to Silencer's base intelligence.

- The Infernals spawn at a random spot within the 400 spawn radius. After spawning, they take 1 second to land on the ground.
- Upon landing, the Infernals deal damage and stun units within a small radius around them.
- Spawns Infernals in 1-second intervals, starting immediately upon cast, resulting in up to 1/1/2/3 infernals when fully channeled.
- Since the Infernals spawn with 1-second delay between each other, a unit within the radius can be stunned for up to 1/1/2/3 seconds.
- The Infernals destroy trees within a 250 radius around them upon landing.
- Infernals take purge damage.
- This ability belonged to the Infernals summoned by Rain of Chaos.
- Deals damage in 1-second intervals, starting 1 second after getting within range.
- Can deal up to 400 damage to a single unit (before reductions) when it stays within range for its full duration.
- Permanent Immolations of multiple Infernals fully stack with each other.
- Does not affect ancient creeps.

- This ability got replaced by Rain of Chaos in the 4.0beta2 gameplay patch.
- Mana Shield does not interrupt Silencer's channeling spells upon cast.
- Absorbs damage before any damage reduction takes place, including damage block or reduction from spells (e.g. Aphotic Shield).
- This also affects everything which works directly with damage dealt after reductions (e.g. Orchid Malevolence).
Silencer (Pre 6.15)[]
- This used to be Silencer's ultimate ability and got replaced by Global Silence in the 6.15 gameplay patch.
- Silencer is a Unique Attack Modifier, and does not stack with other Unique Attack Modifiers.
- Simply silences enemy units upon successfully landing an attack on them.
- Multiple attacks on the same target refresh the duration.
