Curse of the Silent

Curses the target area, causing enemy heroes to take damage and lose mana until they cast a spell.
Cast Animation: 0.3+0.37
Cast Range: 800
Radius: 350
Damage per Second: 20/35/50/65
Mana Loss per Second: 8/16/24/32
Duration: 6
Cooldown: 20/16/12/8
Mana: 75/95/115/135
Nortrom's lack of incantations is less of a problem for him than it is for his adversaries.

  • Curse of the Silent is dispelled when the affected hero casts a spell.
  • Successive casts of Curse of the Silent place always new, independent debuffs. This includes the curse applied by Global Silence.
  • Cannot curse invulnerable or hidden units, however, if a unit turns invulnerable or hidden while being cursed, it still loses mana.
  • Damages and burns mana in 1 second intervals, starting 1 second after the debuff is applied, resulting in 6 instances.
  • Can deal up to 120/210/300/390 damage (before reductions) and burn up to 48/96/144/192 mana on a single unit.
  • Applies the mana loss first on each tick, and then the damage.
  • The sound effect played on every damage instance is only audible to the affected unit's player.

Last Word (Pre 6.76)[]

Enemy heroes nearby will be silenced whenever they cast a spell. If an enemy hero dies while in range of Last Word, Silencer will permanently steal 2 Intelligence from that hero.
Radius: 750
Duration: 0.75/1.5/2.25/3
Nortrom ensures that spells uttered by his opponents will be their last.

  • This ability got reworked into the current Last Word in the 6.76 gameplay patch.
  • The spell which triggers the aura still takes effect.
  • Last Word does not trigger on item use.
  • Does trigger on channeling spells, but waits for the channeling to stop first.
  • The intelligence steal is not retroactive, meaning any kills made before this ability is leveled at least once does not count.
  • Stolen intelligence is added to Silencer's base intelligence.
  • It does not matter how an enemy hero within the radius dies, Silencer always steals its intelligence.
  • However, Silencer needs to be alive as the kill happens to steal the intelligence.

Intelligence Steal (6.79-7.25)[]

Intelligence Steal
Cannot be used by illusions. Not disabled by Break.

Enemy Heroes / Self
Silencer will permanently steal 2 (4 with Talent) intelligence from any enemy hero that dies within 925 range or is killed by the Silencer.
Steal Radius: 925
Stolen Intelligence: 2 (Talent 4)

  • This is an innate ability and does not need to be skilled. It is not bound to any ability, but to Silencer himself.
  • Stolen intelligence is directly removed from the enemy's base intelligence and added to Silencer's base intelligence.
  • Can only steal from base intelligence + intelligence gained from levels. Bonus intelligence cannot be stolen.
  • It does not matter how an enemy hero within the radius dies, Silencer always steals its intelligence.
  • Silencer also always steals intelligence when he deals the killing blow on an enemy hero, regardless of distance.
    • However, Silencer needs to be alive as the kill happens to steal the intelligence.
  • Cannot steal intelligence from illusions or hero clones.
    • When Silencer kills a Meepo minimap icon.png Meepo clone however, he does steal intelligence, since killing a Meepo clone also kills the main Meepo.
  • Cannot reduce enemy base intelligence below 1. Silencer also does not gain intelligence from heroes that are at 1 intelligence.
  • Talent The bonus intelligence steal does not apply retroactively, meaning that taking the talent will not increase the amount of intelligence already stolen.
  • Enemy non-intelligence heroes effectively lose 24 (Talent 48) mana, 0.1 (Talent 0.2) mana regen and 0.14% (Talent 0.28%) spell damage.
    • Enemy intelligence heroes effectively lose 24 (Talent 48) mana, 0.1 (Talent 0.2) mana regen, 0.14% (Talent 0.28%) spell damage, and 2 (Talent 4) attack damage.
    • Vice versa, effectively increases Silencer's mana, mana regen amplification, spell damage, and attack damage by the same amount per stack.
