Overthrow is a ten-player custom game with four different map settings. It was released with the Dota 2 Reborn beta, and is the first official custom game made by Valve.
Gameplay[]
- Each player starts out in a small base at the edge of the map. Each base has a shop and a secret shop, an indestructible tower and a fountain.
- In the middle of the map is the Midas Throne, around the edges is a river with rune locations, and some high ground walking paths.
- Players near the Midas Throne receive faster gold and experience gains. There is a circle around the Midas Throne denoting the effective area. Once you are in the circle your increase is initiated. Being within the circle's perimeter is sufficient; a hero will not gain more by being closer to the center versus being at the outside edge of the circle.
- The Over Boss sits atop the Midas Throne, and throws out giant coins.
- Picking up the coin gives 300 gold.
- Killing the top rated player or a player in the leading team (the leader(s)) rewards a bonus 500 gold.
- Some rune locations have a group of zombies with them. They deal 32 damage, have 250 health, 3 armor and 120 movement speed. These zombies will keep following you around the map. They give 20-35 gold when killed
- All players gain vision of the area around each rune spot.

Item Deliveries[]
- Items are randomly delivered on the map.
- Delivery locations are indicated on the minimap with an icon.
- The fewer kills a team has, the better the item that team will receive from a delivery.
- Once the item arrives, a Flamebreak knockback is applied on the landing area.
Objective[]
- On the Forest map, the first player who reaches the goal number of kills wins.
- On team maps, the team with the most kills when the round ends wins.
- If there is a tie at the end of a round, the game enters Sudden Death mode.
- The team/player that then gains 1 more point than the current highest team/player will win.
- This means all players can still win, and not only the players that were tied at the end of the game.
Restrictions[]
- Some heroes and items cannot be used in Overthrow.

Tips[]
- Items can be shared with your teammates and be sold at shop.
- Use heroes with high nuking and escape potentials and can sustain long periods of battle without dying. Examples are Queen of Pain and Storm Spirit.
- Don't use heroes that rely on sheer item power or dependence on other creeps. Examples are Chen.
- Abilities like Song of the Siren and Chronosphere can help you set up an easy item snatch.
- Spell immunity can prevent the item delivery knockback.
- Waiting out a battle and stealing the kills inside of it is a great strategy. Very little resources used and kills obtained.

- Overthrow random omg
- Everyone starts with 4 random spells. They are changed on death.
- Overdagon
- Everyone starts with a Dagon. It upgrades every 2 minutes.
- Powerthrow
- Al spells are 2x as strong.
- Overthrow - Roshan
- Overthrow with Roshan walking around.
- Overthrow - No time limit
- Overthrow without the time limit.
- Overthrow - Kill Increase (35 / 40 / 45)
- Overthrow with increased amount of kills needed. Time limit still intact.
- Overthrow - Dagon/Missing Heroes Activated
- Overthrow with Dagon, Bloodseeker, Pugna and Undying enabled.
- Overthrow - 5v5
- 5v5 version of Overthrow with each team having a Secret Shop and Pendulum Traps. There is also Roshan and all heroes and items are enabled.
