Abilities[]
Dead Shot[]
- Dead Shot causes enemy heroes hit by it to run in the direction the bullet was moving, directly away from the ricochet. You can use this to cause strong enemies to flee or use careful aim to direct weak enemies into your team, towers, or other hazards.
- Don't forget this spell can ricochet off of trees! You don't need to be facing multiple enemies in order to use this ability and quick thinking on your part can deter a pursuing enemy hero.
- Forcing an enemy to move interrupts their channeled abilities. You can use this to stop a weakened enemy from escaping with a Town Portal Scroll.
The Calling[]
- All enemies in the area are slowed, but only the revenants on the edge deal damage and silence enemies. When targeting this ability, try to make it so heroes will be on the edges where the revenants are or are otherwise forced to move through them if you plan to use this ability for those effects.
- You can use The Calling to slow an enemy you've forced out of position with Dead Shot or a Force Staff.
Gunslinger[]
- Gunslinger has more chances to proc the faster your attack speed is, so any bonuses to attack speed are compounded by the chance to trigger extra attacks. These extra attacks also fully proc attack modifiers. Be sure to build for attack speed, damage, and attack modifiers to take full advantage of this ability.
- Similar to some other heroes' passive right-click abilities, Muerta will perform a unique animation when she's about to proc Gunslinger; she raises both pistols to aim at her two targets. You can theoretically use this along with animation cancelling to better manage your Gunslinger procs while laning.
Pierce the Veil[]
- Pierce the Veil effectively makes you ethereal and still able to attack, so you can use it in a similar way. You gain no defensive benefit against magic damage nukers, but you can become completely invulnerable against other right-click carries and other heroes that deal physical damage.
- Pierce the Veil causes your attacks to deal magic damage, which can be a blessing or a curse. You don't have to worry about damage reduction from armor and can fully target ethereal units, but towers, heroes under the effects of Black King Bar, and other units immune to magic damage are completely immune to your attacks. This can severely limit your effectiveness late-game when these effects are more common.
- With how situational Pierce the Veil is, it can sometime be better to hold off on using this ability during a fight. Be sure to use it when you need to avoid incoming physical damage or when you are free to deal magic damage.
Items[]
Starting items:
- Tango regenerates health early on.
- Clarity replenishes mana, as most of your abilities have high early cost.
Early game:
- Phase Boots allows her to chase targets and gives very useful damage and armor.
- Alternatively, Power Treads could be used for attack speed and increased attributes.
Mid game:
- Maelstrom helps with farming and has a great cost damage ratio for her ultimate.
- Note that due to Maelstrom's 0.2s internal cooldown, both the Gunslinger attack and primary attack cannot proc chain lightning simultaneously.
- Blink Dagger is greatly appreciated, because of Muerta's poor mobility and durability.
- Witch Blade is a great purchase on a right-clicking Intelligence carry with decent attack speed and damage.
- Hurricane Pike provides decent mobility and attribute bonuses and the increased attack range helps her stay away from enemies during combat.
- Mask of Madness is a cheap farming item for Muerta which helps proc Gunslinger as well. Additionally ,her ultimate counters the negative effects of Berserk.
Late game:
- Black King Bar gives spell-immunity. With her ultimate, Muerta is protected from all attacks and most spells.
- Daedalus synergizes well with Gunslinger and amplifies her burst physical damage.
- Eye of Skadi can help you stick to targets while providing great stats.
Situational items:
- Orchid Malevolence is a decent purchase, as her offensive abilities would be amplified thanks to the active ability done by the end of its duration. The reliable silence also pairs well with Pierce the Veil, preventing enemies from using their abilities to deal magical damage to her.
- Bloodthorn can be built from an earlier Orchid Malevolence purchase, increasing her right-click power with 100% critical proc. Along with the silence, the on-hit spell damage reduction greatly reduces the damage she can take during her ultimate.
- Monkey King Bar deals with evasion, as Muerta still needs to land attacks to deal damage.
- Gleipnir is a valuable upgrade and may be needed against mobile foes in order to burst them down.
- Scythe of Vyse provides Muerta with a great disable and stats to take out heroes with ease.
- Yasha and Kaya helps a lot in the midgame, as it improves movement speed, spell power, and attack damage.
- Moon Shard provides a decent boost in damage output as the faster attack speed allows for more Gunslinger procs.
