  • In order to steal a new spell, Spell Steal must be toggled off and then on again. Only 1 ability is stolen per toggle.

  • Words of the developer back then: "Yeah, I'm really sad but we ended up removing Spellsteal. It afforded a lot of troubles, and we decided that it was just too much trouble to cope with. We actually are at a complete loss as to a 4th skill for him; right now he can just get 4 more levels of stats because he cannot reasonably use anything else: attack bonuses he doesn't need, defense bonuses he doesn't need since he keeps Blink, more nuking he doesn't need, superior farming he doesn't need...etc etc. We decided 4 more levels of stats is all he wants anyway."

  • Due to warcraft 3 engine limitations you will be granted a second hero while morph is removed, this second hero will have its own items and experience bar.
  • Experience
    • As mentioned before, you are able to get exp while undercover however the exp will be granted to your "second hero", in other words your second hero can level up.
    • Your "second hero" ability points will be reseted each time you use undercover.
  • Items
    • Your "second hero" will have the items from the hero you copied while your initial items will stay on your "first hero".
    • You cannot drop the items from your "second hero" to get them to your "first hero".
  • Vision
    • While undercovered your "second hero" will gain vision because he is part of the enemy team. Then your "second hero" will share his vision with your "first hero".
    • When Undercover effect is finished you second disappears from your hero bar and the vision it gave to your "first hero" is removed, the parts of the map that were "dark or unexplored" but then revealed by using undercoverd will be in fog of war. For example, if you did not have vision of the enemy fountain and then gain it by using undercover when undercover effect if finished this vision will be removed but that gained vision of the enemy fountain will be no longer "unexplored" they will be explored but hidden "by fog of war".
    • After undercover effect is finished you will be granted vision of the enemy picking circle and your enemy will be granted vision of yours picking circle.
  • Features of undercover
    • The "second hero" will temporarily place on the enemy team until you hit an "allied hero".
    • If you die as your "second hero" you will respawn in your fountain with "your second hero", so as soon as you respawn your fountain will detect you as an enemy hero and therefore attack you. So technically you can be fountain farmed by your own fountain, till the effect is finished.
    • At force attacking an "allied hero" or an "allied creep" you will get removed from undercover dealing the backstab damage and losing your second hero, also will get you a "blah" message in the ui.
    • Your are able to attack, damage and kill heroes, units and structures from your initial team until your "second hero" is removed.
    • After using Undercover there will be a new layer in scoreboard with the name of the player and hero that you undercovered.
    • You can be granted or given shared control of any units/heroes to "your new team" while undercovered.
    • When Undercover runs out or is finished by attacking an "allied hero" any unit shared control that was given or taken will be removed.
  • Removed features of undercover
    • When morphling was undercovered he was able to use enemy spells but this feature was removed 5.55.
    • So as he transforms himself to an enemy hero he will not have any spells or any skills to level up. Only a hero without spells and the backstab damage.
  • Team features of undercover
    • While undercovered you are able to talk to the enemy team but your nickname and player color will be the same as the hero you undercovered, so technically you can impersonate an enemy member.
    • You cannot use Undercover to "switch to the enemy team" to win. When your ancient dies you will lose even if you are undercovered.

  • This ability was added in the 6.84 gameplay patch and removed in 7.07.
  • Can only be cast on allied heroes, including their illusions. Cannot be cast on any illusion of Morphling.
  • The Hybrid illusion can use any ability of its source, except for ultimates and abilities granted by Aghanim's Scepter.
  • The abilities follow the same rules as Rubick's Spell Steal icon Spell Steal. The rules can be viewed here.
  • It cannot level up any abilities. Their levels are equal to what the original hero had them on as the Hybrid was created.
  • The Hybrid can fully use any passive ability of the hero, if they can affect illusions. This includes passive ultimates.
  • If a buff gets carried over to illusions upon creation (like most transformation spells), the Hybrid illusion gets it as well. This includes buffs from ultimates.
  • If the targeted ally has Aghanim's Scepter, the Hybrid gets its spells upgraded as well.
  • The illusion's attributes mirror Morphling's base attributes. They are set upon cast and do not adapt dynamically. Attributes gained from Morphling's items do not affect the illusion.
  • The illusion spawns 108 range away from the target if the hero has a collision size of 24, and 72 if the collision size is 8. It appears either north, east, south or west from the target.
  • The illusion has a timer above it, showing how many seconds are left for the illusion to expire. This timer is only visible to Morphling.
  • Unlike most other illusions, illusions created by Hybrid have no bounty.

  • Unlike the regular Attribute Bonus of all other heroes, this one directly added the attributes to Morphling's base attributes.
  • This means these extra attributes could be used by Morph icon Morph.
  • In the gameplay patches 6.04 and 6.04b, this had 14 levels. It required level 1/3/5/7/9/11/13/15/17/19/21/23/25/27 to learn.
    • This means the last level was not learnable since the level cap is at 25.
  • This used to not grant intelligence in the gameplay patches 6.04, 6.04b and 6.20-6.28. It used to grant 1 intelligence in 6.05.
