Adaptive Strike (pre 6.60)
Blasts a target with magical energy, dealing damage or disabling the target based on Morphling's dominant attribute between agility and strength.

The Morphling calls upon his elements to crush his opponents with waves.

- In the version 6.05, this ability dealt damage over time and was castable on enemies. The damage caused a deny if the target died to it.
- This ability got replaced by Replicate in the 6.31 gameplay patch.
- Switches Morphling's primary attribute. On each attribute, Morphling has a different second ability and different attack range.
- On agility, he has Morph Attack, 350 attack range and 275 movement speed.
- On intelligence, he has Crushing Wave, 500 attack range and 275 movement speed.
- On strength, he has Unstable Power, 175 attack range and 290 movement speed.
- Upon successfully switching, all buffs and debuffs on Morphling are dispelled. Disjoints projectiles and resets all of Morphling's ability and item cooldowns.
- Also causes Morphling to forget queued commands and cancel any spell or attack targeted at him.

The Morphling's Attribute Bonus adds a straight up 2 points to agility, strength and intelligence. You don't see the icon and bonus points become part of Morphling's base attributes.

- Morphling used this modified version of Attribute Bonus in the gameplay patches 6.04 to 6.28.
- Unlike the regular Attribute Bonus of all other heroes, this one directly added the attributes to Morphling's base attributes.
- This means these extra attributes could be used by Morph.
- In the gameplay patches 6.04 and 6.04b, this had 14 levels. It required level 1/3/5/7/9/11/13/15/17/19/21/23/25/27 to learn.
- This means the last level was not learnable since the level cap is at 25.
- This used to not grant intelligence in the gameplay patches 6.04, 6.04b and 6.20-6.28. It used to grant 1 intelligence in 6.05.

The Morphling can steal a spell cast by any nearby unit. The copied spell is of the same level as it spell was copied from.
- This ability got removed in the 6.04 gameplay patch.
- When toggled on, Morphling gains the next spell a hero casts within the radius. This includes allied heroes.
- In order to steal a new spell, Spell Steal must be toggled off and then on again. Only 1 ability is stolen per toggle.
- Can only steal hero spells. Every other spell cast within the radius is not registered.
- The following hero abilities cannot be stolen: Dark Flames, Elder Dragon Form, Spin Web, Summon Spirit Bear, Return, Eclipse, Lua error in Module:Ability_ID at line 61: Could not find Cargo data for "Rabid"., One, Battle Cry, True Form, Berserker's Rage, Metamorphosis, Freezing Field, Omnislash, Nether Swap, Sprout, Mana Leak, Entrench, Thundergod's Wrath, Shapeshift, Searing Arrows, Ante Up
- Words of the developer back then: "Yeah, I'm really sad but we ended up removing Spellsteal. It afforded a lot of troubles, and we decided that it was just too much trouble to cope with. We actually are at a complete loss as to a 4th skill for him; right now he can just get 4 more levels of stats because he cannot reasonably use anything else: attack bonuses he doesn't need, defense bonuses he doesn't need since he keeps Blink, more nuking he doesn't need, superior farming he doesn't need...etc etc. We decided 4 more levels of stats is all he wants anyway."
