(Just after Mirana has her maids change her into her nightwear, she looks beside her to see Marci in a regal uniform, causing her to gasp in surprise)
Kid Mirana: You.
(Marci curtseys to her new mistress Mirana. The latter quickly approaches her to shoo her)
Kid Mirana: Hurry downstairs before you're noticed.
Kashurra: She is your handmaid. Her family was promoted.
(Marci curtseys to Kashurra as well as he approaches)
Kashurra: Those that harmed her have been demoted or cast out. The worst face punishment akin to what the girl endured. They had power over her. They overstepped it. There was a cost.
(Kashurra leans in to Mirana's forehead)
Kashurra: There is always a cost.
(Kashurra kisses her forehead)
Kashurra: Good night, my Sunbeam.
(As Kashurra and the maids leave Mirana and Marci alone, Marci leaves to get something. She returns with Mirana's stuffed mouse and gives it to her. Mirana accepts it into her hands)
Kid Mirana: Propriety demands I call you "girl" or "handmaid." I'd rather call you by your name, Marci.

Kid Mirana: The girl saw other servant children steal them from us. One overheard her tell her mother. She's small, weak. So, they punished her. They hurt her. You must do something, Father. The throne should not abide thieves or cruelty.
