Druffins are an odd species of dragon in the world of Dota 2.

Habitat[]

The druffin was discovered on an unnamed island in the Samareen Sea.[1]

Characteristics[]

Morphology, physiology, and whatnot[]

As a dragon, druffins possess a mix of avian and draconic features. A druffin's body shape is identical to that of a bird, especially dodos or chickens. Notable avian features include the legs which ends in feet that have three short toes and its blue feathers covering its most of its dorsal side, tail, wings, and thighs. The feathers on its tail and wings end in orange tips. It also appears to have a pair of blue crests on its head that it can move like rabbit ears. It is capable of using its short wings to fly, although it appears to have difficulties doing this, occasionally dropping its altitude before recovering. This may be because the only known specimen available for observation has a backpack weighing it down as a courier.

It has fewer draconic aspects compared to its birdlike features. Their draconic features include what appears to be scales on its hide. Druffins are covered in blue scales on its dorsal side, while its ventral side (such as its belly) is covered in white scales. It also has bulging eyes looking at opposite sides. Instead of a bird's toothless beak, it has a blue snout with a black tip and it has a few sharp teeth that vary in size. It's unknown if druffins have gullets like most dragons, an organ where their fire spews from and is used to gnash and grind their food after they have swallowed it.

Diet[]

Druffins eat small fish.

Intelligence[]

Personality[]

Nature has made this animal fearless and tame due to unknown circumstances. It may seem like a disadvantage, but it makes them trusty animals to anyone who employs them.[1]

Notable Druffins[]

Drodo is nothing but a druffin from an island in the Samareen Sea. His tameness allowed him to be employed as a trusty courier.[1]

Relationships[]

Hunting[]

Following its discovery on an island in the Samareen Sea, hungry sailors hunted these dragons for delicious food and rapidly drove them to near extinction.[1]

Trivia[]

  • Almost everything about the druffin is an exact copy of the real-life dodo, an extinct species of flightless bird.
