Increases Anti-Mage's resistance to magic damage.
Causes Spell Shield to passively block and reflect a targeted spell once every 12 seconds.
Years of meditation and obsession with revenge have hardened Anti-Mage's skin against mystical opponents.
- This ability got replaced by Counterspell in the 7.20 gameplay patch.
- Stacks multiplicatively with other sources of magic resistance.
- Increases Anti-Mage's total base magic resistance to 40%/47.5%/55%/62.5% ( 58.75%/66.25%/73.75%/81.25%).
- Aghanim's Scepter adds a Spell Block and Spell Reflection to Spell Shield.
- Only goes on cooldown upon successfully blocking, but not when just reflecting a spell (e.g. Toss).
- If Anti-Mage has the Linken's Sphere item or buff, they only block spells while Spell Shield is on cooldown.
- If Anti-Mage has the Echo Shell buff from Lotus Orb, Echo Shell only reflects spells while Spell Shield is on cooldown.
- The Spell Shield does not reflect spells which come from Echo Shell (reflected spells are not reflected again).
- The effect uses a regular cooldown, and is therefore affected by all cooldown manipulating effects.
- Unlike Lotus Orb, does not reflect Phantom Strike and Blink Strike. They do get blocked still.

Anti-Mage channels a powerful warding magic, damping the negative effect of spells. The increased concentration makes it harder for him to attack, reducing his attack speed.

- Does not interrupt Anti-Mage's channeling spells, or any other order upon toggling.
- Cannot be toggled while disabled.
- Stacks multiplicatively with other sources of magic resistance.
- Increases Anti-Mage's total base magic resistance to 47.50%/55%/62.50%/70%, while toggled on.
Mana Burn (Pre 5.55)[]
Sends a bolt of negative energy that burn a target enemy unit's mana. Burned mana combusts dealing damage to the target equal to the amount of mana burned.
- This ability was replaced with Spell Shield (Pre 6.10) in the 5.55 gameplay patch.
- Can be cast on creeps and creep-heroes with mana pool.

Paralyzes an enemy for five seconds, and dissipates 25, 35, 45.55 mana per second based on level. Also deals small amount hit point damage.

- Can be cast on creeps with no mana pool.

- The mana is burned in 1 second intervals, starting immediately as the channeling begins
- The mana burned does not deal damage.
- The strangle deals up to 40/50/55/60 damage, and burns up to 125/175/225/275 mana.

Mana Break (2.60)[]
- This ability got replaced by Spell Shield (3.00) in patch 3.00d.
- The bonus damage is dealt in one instance together with the attack damage, and counts as attack damage as well.
- It can be lifestealed off of and cleave, but it is not considered by crit.
- It is also not affected by percentage-based attack damage bonuses or reductions, but can be reduced with flat reductions.
- Effectively increases a Anti-Mage's attack damage by 25/50/75 against units which have enough mana to burn.
- Applies the mana loss first, and then the damage.
- Does not work against allied units when attacking them.
- Does not stack with Diffusal Blade's Manabreak.
